For those that have no idea what Matsuri (祭＝まつり) means, it translates to a festival! The festival was held in Phoenix, the great metro capital of Arizona, and it celebrated everything Japanese – from Awa Odori, to taiko, to endless amounts of entertainment, food, etc. – just as you would see at a festival in Japan!This festival in particular had a great theme, “Shinkansen”. I thought it was fitting. The Shinkansen connects Japan, making all the far reaches of the country more accessible to everyone. Similarly, Arizona Matsuri has connected this rich and diverse culture (involving many communities, groups, and individuals) to America for everyone to celebrate.
